 FlexMD is looking for Registered Massage Therapists to partner with us at our new Mount Joy, Markham clinic

 An exciting opportunity for a Registered Massage Therapist to join our team at FlexMD. Our multi-disciplinary clinic team is comprised of Primary Care Physicians, Pharmacists, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Massage Therapists, and Chiropractors.

Responsibilities

 Assessment

·         Confer with clients about their medical histories and problems with stress or pain to determine how massage will be most helpful.

·         Assess clients' soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion and propose treatment plans.

 Treatment/Management

·         Explain procedures, risks, and benefits to clients

·         Apply suitable massage techniques including

o   soft tissue manipulation

o   relaxation techniques

o   soft tissue stretching

o   manual pressure to specific points on the body

o   manual stripping or cross-fiber friction of muscle tissue

o   trigger point therapy

o   joint play and mobilizations

o   lymphatic drainage

o   myofascial release.

·         Complete required client notes, maintain accurate documentation, and file client files after each visit.

·         Complete reports and respond to insurance company inquiries, as required.

 Education/Advocacy

  • Suggest home care instructions and provide information about techniques for further postural improvement and stretching, strengthening, relaxation, and rehabilitative exercises

 Referrals/Collaboration

·         Consult with other health care professionals, such as physiotherapists, chiropractors, physicians, and psychologists, to develop treatment plans for clients.

Requirements

·         Registration with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), in good standing.

·         CMTO Acupuncture Authorization is an asset.

·         Professional Liability Insurance.

·         Strong critical thinking, decision-making and analytical skills

·         Exceptional time management and organizational skills with an ability to work independently.

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·         Enthusiasm for collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.

·         Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
